Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything By Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner >> Book review and Free Preview
Genre
Non-Fiction, Economics
Publisher
In the book the authors apply the basic concepts of economics to everyday happenings and try to interpret them in a scientific manner. In the process they try to break various myths that surround the phenomenon/incidents covered.
The author simply picks up questions from the world around us and tries to find answers to them using empirical data, rules of economics and common sense.
In the process he underlines the importance of distinguishing Correlation from Causality, and of a critical analysis of everything around us, in particular conventional wisdom.
Green - looking at everything around us from a rather uncommon, and seemingly sensible/logical and critical perspective, that is as severely lacking in people in general as it is required.
Fun, logical, eye-opening!
