The Book

The book covers the journey of Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam starting from a financially constrained background in a South Indian city to becoming a beloved scientist. He had not yet become the President of India when this book was written.

He highlights the contribution of his relatives, teachers and mentors in helping him through the difficulties in life and showing him the path on which he walked to achieve greatness.

He talks about his education, his time in ISRO, then with the Defence missile projects.

Rating
Green. The book is great in many ways. One - it is an inspirational success story. Two - it is the success story of a man who acknowledges the role of fortitude and other people in his success - true humility. Third - I heard the abridged audio book on Audible, it is interspersed with beautiful music - more of a performance than a simple book-reading.
